Now a days web 2.0 internet marketing strategy plays vital role. All are running after this.There are some webmaster who neglects SITE MAP of a website. The name implies that map of your site, which shows path to the user and SEs. That means the structure of your website and link available inside the site.
Site map helps your web pages to be indexed by the SEs. This is the best Web design practices but now days it is so much important for SEO. There are two types of sitemap, one is for user in .HTM or .HTML extortion and other is for SEs i.e. in .XML extension. One might ask why two sitemaps are necessary. Answer is simple - one is for human (.HTM, .HTML), the other is for spider (.XML)
Sitemaps has so many benefits, not only for better navigation but also better SEs visibility. Sitemaps gives data to SEs about any addition and deletion of web pages. Definitely the changes in your site will be indexed faster, compared to when you don't have a sitemap.
Don’t put broken links in your sitemaps. Otherwise the crawler will go out from your site when it will find a broken link.
If the site is very new, or if you have a number of new pages (or recently added pages), then using a sitemap you can index your site.

The procedure to make a site map for you website is very simple. Gather all the links of your site and put it in a webpage and make hyperlink to different keywords. J Then upload it in your site. But again you have to make a file with .XML extension for crawler.

Only generating site map and putting it in your site may not enough for proper crawling of spiders. it needed to be submitted to search engines. you can submit xml version of the sitemap to google using ur google webmasters account. Also create a different site map for yahoo as it supports a text version of sitemap. Thanks for informatic post . Keep it up.....
